DESCRIPTION:

Discussion with Jim Dougherty: environmental activitist and Washington-based photographer Alexa St. Clair: Oregon-based photographer Isabelle Hayeur: Canadian-based photographer (via telephone or videoconference).  Explore how photoblogging is expanding our means of communication. This year, a group of American, Canadian, and German photographers is engaged in an internet-based dialogue about the environment – through pictures. Sponsored by the Goethe-Institut, the blog is a chance to let artists speak to each other in the language of photography instead of in German, English, or French. The panelists will address what this nonverbal dialogue has meant to each photographer – both as an artist and as an environmentalist. During the evening, the audience will look at the blog and can write some comments directly to the website. RSVP to 202.289.1200 ext. 170 or rsvp@washington.goethe.org.
