Taking part in FotoWeek DC could mean visiting Photo Works at Glen Echo Park in Bethesda, the Ellipse Arts Center in Arlington, or one of our renowned collections of photography at the Library of Congress, the National Archives, or the Smithsonian. It may involve joining a workshop or a field trip centered around the craft of photography or listening to a panel of professionals mentoring a university audience on the many careers open to photographers that don’t involve shooting – consider the photo editor, the photo researcher, the photo archivist who all work extensively with the medium. Attend a slide lecture by some of the area’s most talented and nationally recognized photographers, curators, and other photography professionals.
As we get closer to FotoWeek DC in November, we will have many opportunities for volunteers to join in the effort to present this inaugural celebration of photography in our nation’s capital. Joining with like-minded enthusiasts can open doors to new friends and rewarding experiences. >>
